History
Tuzla Drinking Waters and Thermal Baths have been offering healing benefits to people and providing natural treatment opportunities for many ailments since the 12th century, dating back to the Byzantine period.
The fame of Tuzla Drinking Waters and Thermal Baths first reached wider audiences in 1611 through Evliya Çelebi’s Seyahatname (Book of Travels). Later, in 1927, upon the direct instruction of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the institution was incorporated under the name “Tuzla İçmeleri A.Ş.” and has continued its services to the present day.
The modern face of Tuzla Drinking Waters and Thermal Baths, “Istanbul Medical Thermal,” is one of the most significant facilities in Türkiye, where traditional thermal bathing and drinking cure practices are combined with modern hydrotherapy and physical therapy approaches.
